State Grid invests 1.43 billion yuan to build an electrical equipment testing center in Changzhou

On the morning of July 6th, Fan Yanqing, Secretary of Changzhou Municipal Party Committee, met with Xiao Shijie, President of State Grid Electric Power Research Institute, and his delegation at the Administrative Center. Xiao Shijie stated that State Grid will invest 1.43 billion yuan to establish a world-class electrical equipment testing center in Changzhou. State Grid Electric Power Research Institute is a research unit directly under State Grid Corporation of China, with a world-class ultra-high voltage AC test base. In 2009, its revenue was 10.5 billion yuan, and in the first half of 2010, its revenue increased by 110% year-on-year.

The total investment for the State Grid Corporation of China (Changzhou) Electrical Equipment Testing Center project is 1.43 billion yuan. The project is positioned to build a world leading electrical equipment testing and testing base with high-power test stations as the core. It will carry out quality testing, type testing, product identification, technical training, and product quality arbitration for high-voltage switches and related electrical equipment nationwide and even worldwide, driving the technological upgrading of China's transmission and transformation equipment manufacturing industry. It is of great strategic significance for the revitalization of the five major industries and the development of intelligent industries in Changzhou.

Fan Yanqing welcomed the arrival of Xiao Shijie and his delegation, and expressed gratitude to State Grid Electric Power Research Institute for choosing Changzhou. He said that in recent years, Changzhou has accelerated the revitalization of five major industries, with a total scale of 500 billion yuan this year, of which the advanced equipment manufacturing industry accounts for more than 50%. Currently, Changzhou is aiming to build an innovative city and a national innovative science and technology park, accelerating its transformation and upgrading. State Grid Electric Power Research Institute has strong economic strength and research and development capabilities. Investing in the construction of a world-class electrical equipment testing center in Changzhou will play an important leading and supporting role in the construction of the Changzhou Smart Grid Industrial Park, with enormous development potential. I hope to leverage the resource advantages of State Grid Electric Power Research Institute to comprehensively integrate the resources of Changzhou's power transmission and transformation industry, accelerate the construction of the smart grid industry, and advance towards industries worth billions of yuan.

Xiao Shijie stated that the establishment of State Grid (Changzhou) Electrical Equipment Testing Center is a good start for cooperation between State Grid Company and Changzhou. With the full support of Changzhou Municipal Party Committee and Government, State Grid Electric Power Research Institute is confident and determined to build State Grid (Changzhou) Electrical Equipment Testing Center into an international first-class testing institution, and to take the cooperation between the two sides to a higher level, making contributions to supporting the service of Changzhou's power transmission and transformation industry to occupy a high ground.

After the meeting, Fan Yanqing accompanied Xiao Shijie and his delegation to inspect the construction site of State Grid (Changzhou) Electrical Equipment Testing Center and CRRC Qishuyan Locomotive and Rolling Stock Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd.
